I'm just about burned out with Oblivion but it was quite literally one of the best RPG experiences in my lifetime. What other RPG's are out there that are as open-ended, beautiful, long, and indepth like Oblivion? I tried KOTOR for a little bit but couldn't get used to the slow turn-based combat. Should I give it another shot? Of course any other game suggestions are welcome. Game like Oblivion?
Well, if you haven't played Morrowind yet it is definately worth looking into. The graphics are definately dated compared to Obivion but the game is still very good. Two Worlds is an alright game with a long epic like storyline but the voice acting is terrible and the combat system takes some getting used too, it is also a bit on the buggy side. The Gothic series also has a wide open style of gameplay along the same lines as Oblivion, the graphics aren't as good and the controls are a bit different, but the storyline is excellent. Those are the main ones I can think of right off hand that are worth giving a try. I'd highly recommend Morrowind then the Gothic series.Game like Oblivion?
divine divinity , you can move around all sorts of objects like oblivion.
I would highly recommend Morrowind as well, if you didn't get a chance to play through it. There are a number of graphical mods and what not that make the game look much, much better if you're unsure whether or not the graphics are ''acceptable''.There is also the Gothic series, and Two Worlds. (Played both, weren't my cup of tea though :( )
However, if you can give the combat in KotOR another shot, you won't be disappointed with the rest of the game. (One of my favorite RPGs)
Not to be a graphics hog but are there games like Oblivion with more current gen graphics? Morrowind I hear too much about so I may have to give that a shot.
Gothic III is really good and is pretty cheap nowadays. Just make sure you patch it up all the way.
Maybe it is time for you to try a MMO-RPG? They usually have big worlds to explore and maxing a character is a lot longer then in Oblivion. Here is a list of some MMO-RPGs:- City of Heroes/Villains, my personnal favorite...years ahead of the other on the design, but a tadbit fast.- World of Warcraft (a good introduction if you never play any MMO before, as it is a good quickie of the genre)- Everquest/Everquest 2....honestly try WoW, and if you like raiding, consider either.- Dark Age of Camelot...honestly try WoW, and if you want some PvP...try it.- Saga of Ryzom...closest to Oblivion IMO.- EvE, in space, lot of PvP and lot of time requirements.- Lineage 1 %26 2, grind in PvP-open situations.- Tabular Rasa/Planetside, if you want something closer to a FPS. There are other as well, but I think these are most of the good MMOs on the market atm.
Gothic series.
Is Gothic series multi-player?
Been there, done that with the MMORPG's. Frankly, I miss the old EQ days before the Planes of Power expansion. What an awesome era of gaming that was.
Is Gothic series multi-player?
Nope, no multiplayer in the Gothic series, but it is a great singleplayer series.
Morrowind and Mount and Blade.
How long is the main storyline for KOTOR and Morrowind? Are there lots of fun and interesting side quests as well?
You could probably finish the main storyline in KOTOR in about 24 hours of gameplay, mabey less but the side quests add a bit more time to the game. The main storyline in Morrowind could easily take you 80+ hours even more if you add in the expansion packs, or just buy the game of the year edition which has them included. There are a lot of side quests and faction quests available in Morrowind also that could easily stretch out the play time to weeks worth of gameplay. Morrowind also has a ton of mods that add new quests, armor, weapons, powers, etc. There are even mods that make the graphics better.
