damnit! Ive got 1.5 gigs of ram...and no more slots...Official minimum specs for Assassin's Creed.
.
I feel the hate storm coming, before it begins... wake up it's 2008.
Those specs seem resonable to me especialy since they are supposedly tweaking the graphics up for the PC version.
Bad optimization = confirmed

If I can run BioShock comparatively to the 360 on my 2.667 GHz P4, X1650Pro and DDR-333 RAM, then I should be able to run Assassin's Creed.

The P4-D/ 2.6 can't come within a mile of keeping up with an AMD X2 3800 ! That is going to make the owners of some really old P4s get their hopes up for nothing. The only item that I noted might be a real surprise is the insistence on dual-layer technology in the DVD drive. The older type has been put into millions of readymade PCs right up to right now. I have several PCs here myself, but (I think) only one has that dual layer capability. Also, if it can run, even at low image quality settings, on the X1300 or vanilla 6600, that doesn't sound badly optimized to me; those are pretty puny cards compared to most of the current eye-candy-filled games.
*sigh*, I knew that the day I saw my dual core 3800 was going to become a minimum requirement was coming soon, guess its time to upgrade a bit more. And while the requirments aren't too unreasonable, compared to other games that are well optimized it could have been done better.
Can you link your source? Unless the URL has ubisoft in it, I don't believe it's official.
Here's the link. Since GS won't allow me to post a single word with over 80 characters in length, you have to perform search yourself.http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.phpSelectSearch by Platform>PC>Assasin's Creed Then click search.
It took till 2008 for the x2 3800 to be at the low end of a game's requirement. So quad core's will be low end in ummm 2012. ;)
Translation: ''We can't port.''Edit: Oh! And ''(Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)''.

Really... Any improved performance mods-I have similar specs, and BioShock was not close to the 360 version.
that fully looks like recomended specs certanly not minimum.you made this game on a pc for the x box why cant you optimise it for one???
I guess I can run it.
So if you can run crysis on medium you can run this game on low ? Wow, ubisoft can't optimise for ****. What have they been doing since the release of AC on consoles ? Sitting on their lazy butt, and than a week before the release of AC for PC they start porting ?

If this game features no (good) improvements over the console versions and is as badly optimised as the TC says it is ... then I'm prolly getting this on 360 ... or not at all.

Lol and 3 gigs RAM recommended ? That's overkill !!!

I have: AMD X2 Athlon Dual Core 6000+ 256MB DDR3 GeForce 8600GTS Silentpipe 32 x 1GB DDR2 RAM
So.. Will I be able to play the game? With minimal, normal or high settings?
how the hell they came up with such requirements !!although i meet the requirements i don't think i would be buying the game
Looks like Ubisoft are wanting an excuse to stop making games for PC.It may be 2008, but making dual core a minimum requirement cuts out a massive chunk of the market. Looking at the latest Steam hardware survey (ok that's not gospel, but it has over 1 million unique PC's used for gaming) shows that over 60% only have single core machines.NOTICE: This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some disc and virtual drives. StarForce was Ubisoft's preferred choice of copy protection and games carried this same warning - we know just how much people love that  One big benefit PC gaming has over console gaming, is that the software is cheaper. Since the PC version has been so delayed, I can buy the 360 version now for less than the PC launch price.Do Ubisoft actually want people playing their games on PC?
This game is RAM hungry, the other specs are ok
