Update:Huge Peformance boost in Team Fortress 2.

This is off topic and I know Krall is lurking somewhere  in the shadows so I'll get to the point. This tweak is for Intel core 2 users also known as Dual core users. Some people have discovered almost a x2 boost of framerate due to TF2 was only utilizing one core. Here's the tip:When you start up Team Fortress 2 and arrive at the menu>go to your options and search for enable console.Next open up the console by pressing the (~) key located on the left side of the 1 key. A text box should then appear.Next simply type in Mat_queue_mode 2Update: This tweak also works for Quad core users. However Quad core users should also type in Fps_max 60 (Without locking the framerate cap the frames seems to be almost to high and causes sluggish in frames. However the only thing I notice about this tweak was that your weapon will sometimes appear, reappear and a couple of crashes but for the performance I feel it's worth it.)This command will function TF2 to use your second core rather then the one core default .Enjoy...I'm going to blog this because I'm sure this will get lock :)Update:Huge Peformance boost in Team Fortress 2.
I assume tgis hould work with AMD x2 users aswell, so im gonna check it out. Can we confirm if this will work in Ep.2 and Portal as well?Update:Huge Peformance boost in Team Fortress 2.
Sweet! I'm gonna try this out!

As for Portal and the rest I havn't research if this tweak will work but someone can try to see results.
Just tested it out. Was averaging around 45-50 fps with the default setting, 60-75 after. Thanks. :D Oh yeah, this was with intel c2d, not amd.Is this for TF2 only, or any source engine game?

Just tested it out with Portal, changing the setting didn't seem to make any difference in fps. Oh well.

So far only TF2 seems to work best with this command.I'm trying to pull off a tweak to work for Quad core users as well.
Yea, Mario was right, It didnt work for me. :( I hope there is a similar tweak for AMD users that someone will find soon. :)
I tweaked it for quad core users buds. Check the first post.I'm a research for AMD users. Sadly I cant find any great results with this tweak for AMD users. It's the weirdest thing. I wish I can tweak for amd users but all the computers in my house are Intels.
I'm going to try it out on my Pentium 4 Hyperthreading CPU, but I'm not hoping for good results, since the other core is only a logical core, and not a physical one. toodleloous~
This sounds interesting, but you can you clarify ''This command will function TF2 to use your second core rather then the default one.''Does that mean the command uses the second core instead of the primary core or it uses both?

[/QUOTE]It makes full use of both. Sorry for the typos. Let me know how it goes.
To save it in autoexec , can you just add mat_queue_mode ''2'' to the wordpad file because it isn't listed there.

Ok, it gives you a 20 fps performance boost. But heres the catch, motion blur is disabled. I've noticed while tampering on/off on developer's commentary. Feels slippery while aiming and noticed some tearing. (maybe my graphics card isnt that great).r_threaded_renderables 1
r_threaded_particles 1
r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1
cl_threaded_bone_setup 1
cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1these commands also work for multi-core users. credit to forum poster in wireplay.uk I left mat_queue_mode to -1,but tweaked the abovementioned .They're disabled by default because they are not fully developed and can cause instability.
actually turns out motion blur is disabled when v-sync if off at mat_queue_mode 2. i think..
Bumping for those who maye missed out on this.
those totaly don't save ..... i enabled all the commands you told me to .... and when reopening tf2 they aren't on
jsut imagine if i could get 200+ frames ill have to try this when i get home......im no longer content with 100+frames ='[
