Day of Defeat: Source

Hey guys, I wanted your feedback on this game. I've seen some vids and it seems really fun. I really like the WW2 setting and stuff also so that's a plus for me. My only concern is this. I bought CS:S and the Orange Box so I've been playing both CS:S and TF2 a LOT lately. So I guess my question is, am I really missing out on anything or am I good to go with CS:S and TF2?Day of Defeat: Source
Almost and I mean almost everybody is skilled at DOD. The game is addictive just like CS and TF2 though. The only drawback is the learning curve but like all games once you learn it's hella fun.Day of Defeat: Source
iv played both CS:S and TF2 but neither are as good as day of defeat source it gets really addictive especially if you have some good guys to play it with.
Is good. Yah! Play da game, dude.
In terms of fun: TF2 >>>>>>>>>> DoDS >>>>>>>>>> CSS
In terms of skill to kill ratio: DoDS >>>>>>>>>> CSS >>>>> TF2
In terms of longevity: DoDS = TF2 >>>>> CSS
In terms of community quality: DoDS >>>>> TF2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CSS
In terms of community acceptance of ''noobs'': DoDS >> TF2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CSS

With either DoDS or TF2 you really cannot go wrong. TF2 is more of an arcade/twitch shooter while DoDS is more of a skill-based tactical shooter. Both are incredibly fast-paced and incredibly fun. If you already have TF2 I would definitely recommend getting DoDS and playing it instead of CSS. The DoD community is the most open and welcoming communities to have ever existed. Your a noob? That doesn't matter, we bring you in, teach you how things work and make you into a skilled team player.

Okay. TF2 beaths CS:S and DoD:S, but they are all really fun and will keep you playing for a long time.TF2>CS:S>DoD:S
imho cs:s>tf2>dod:s

[/QUOTE]Heh, I was just thinking ''When is foxhound_fox gonna show up in this thread?'' :PBut hey thanks for the nifty chart thing! It really helped me out!So you think DoDS actually takes more skill than CS:S?About the community acceptance of ''noobs,'' if that really is true, then DoDS may be the game for me. I really like CS:S but I absolutely hate the arrogant bastards that frequent most servers that I play on. Just like last night, I joined a server that had some pretty competitve players and had like a K:D ratio of like 0:9 (lol) and so people were like ''wow I really like your K:D ratio'' and stuff like that so I was thinking to myself ''Why even play when it isn't really fun anymore?''

Yes, it takes quite a bit more skill. It is more than just knowing how every gun works and where the hitboxes are. You have to be cunning and have great and unique strategies if you are going to make it past 2-3 MG's and cap a point. All of the cIasses are nearly perfectly balanced (not nearly as well as TF2 but close) and each has a specific role in moving forward and capturing control points. Rifleman, Assault and Support are the main front-line infantry. They are the ones doing the running into the main action and taking the most damage. Sniper, Machine Gunner and Rocket are the ''support'' infantry, they stick behind the front-line and keep the enemy from passing back behind to flank.

Rockets have a unique role though. They are excellent at taking out MG's and Snipers. And if you are on the American side, you get the M1A1, practically a main cIass gun in itself. Easily one of the best cIasses in game, especially if you can survive long enough to pick up something along with it.

Not a single server that I have played on in DoDS has there ever been an ass or asses who makes fun of you for what you can or cannot do. That and most public servers that have some kind of admin or mods normally welcome new players and gladly answer any questions they have. DoDS isn't as competitive or ''1337'' as CSS, which is what makes it the better game.
I played a bit of Day of Defeat: Source a while back and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'd easily recommend it over Counter Strike, that's for sure. Compared to TF2, though, that's probably more of a toss up for me. I haven't played it in a while. Maybe I should try firing it up again...
imho DoD:S>TF2>CS:SI would highly recommend Day of Defeat: Source, if you have the patience to under go the learning curve you will be rewarded with a gaming experience you can't get nowhere else. Most weapons have a bit (understatement) of recoil so it will take some getting use to. Great game indeed!
Thanks for the great feedback guys! Well... I decided to pull the trigger on this one and so I just bought it and right now it... just finished DL'ing! :D w00t! Anyone wanna play in a bit? My SteamID is: Spy4Life (note: there is a '''' before ''Spy4Life'' and an arrow after it, but GS won't let me type it out that way)So it would look like this (just all put together) : - - > Spy4Life < - -
i love this game but source wise ill stick with TF2 cuz it's teh bestest
It's $10, go ahead, live a little:)
DoD source is much different than those two and really fun in its own way. I say you are missing out.
Don't get Source, get DoD 1.3 :D. much better game all around. but if you already have TF2 %26 CS:S, why bother. if you get somewhat decent at CSS you will probably get hooked and forget that there are even other games out there lol.

I gave my friend the guest pass and at first he was very skeptical (cuz he hates CS:S lol) but he got toally hooked too! So now he's also gonna buy it!Yes, I'm enjoying this much more than CS:S! Now TF2 has a competitor for my tme :P

I used to think that before I really started getting superb at Source. Just like with CSS, the game adds a new level of realism that just cannot be ignored and helps give the player new depth to an already superb formula. Not only that but the cIasses are perfectly balanced compared to that almost one-sided affair you got on the Airborne/Fallschirmjager maps. As much as I loved using the MG42 as a shotgun they really did an excellent job in making the game learn-able for all types of players, not just the elite shooter fanatics (it took me several months to even get decent at 1.3).

And as for playing some with you... well, I am kind of addicted to TF2 at the moment and don't plan on getting back into DoD until I good and done with TF2. But I think I will be able to do it, eventually, and you probably couldn't find a better guide to the world of DoD.

I think tonight I'm gonna play a bit of both ;)
It's pretty cool, I like it more then CSS, I think.
There's really no more to say about it, honestly.
