Hi guys, just to say, Savage 2 has been released. If you've never played the original, it's like an FPS/RTS/RPG hybrid (also third person melee combat). Basically a team based game, but one payer plays as the ''commander'' and see's the game as an rts and gives units (players) commands which they should obey, but don't have to (commands appear as waypoints). I'm going to write a bit about the game below, but if you just want to go to the website and try it out, link is at the end. Demo is brilliant, and it's a full commercial game, but rather cheap as it's being sold independently. So, on with the info, the Commander can build structures to allow players to spawn as different units, including siege units to help destory buildings, commander earns gold pool by mining, but individual players earn money to buy upgrades and to spawn as better units through attacking players, destorying buildings and helping to build/complete objectives. The game also includes a few RPG elements, you character can level up, you have a persistant level which just helps for servers to tell a players skill and allow servers to hsot for certain skill levels, and a another level which resets at the start of every match, you earn experience and can then spend skill points throughout a game. Each character class also has about 6 skills which they can use, think World of Warcraft but the skills work within a fast pased realtime combat system. All this is wrapped up in a brilliant online tracking system which records every little stat and ranks you amongst everyone, you can even download replays of every match ever played. Oh, and the game seems more popular then UT3 at the moment, I'm not having trouble finding 24 player servers to join. Of course more maps and such will be released over time.If your interested, the demo includes 5 hours of online play, and as much offline play as you want (LAN, practice and tutorial modes). The games only $30 so it should give you enough time to get a good idea for the gameplay. If you've ever played savage 1 your gonna loved this, and if not give it a shot, may take a while to learn though, definetly play through the tutorial, it's dull, but teaches some important points. Also, if anyone does decide to buy it, it would be REALLY nice if you could send me a PM first and let me refer you, gives me a little bonus as a persistant item, can find em on the battlefield and get one automatically by registering, but more the merrier :)Thanks guys, and here's a link to the game:http://savage2.s2games.com/main.phpSavage 2 released! Yeah... I know... my best friend is one of the lead programmers and I've been watching the game come together over the past year... but I've got Team Fortress 2 to play.

It is a little scaled back from savage 1, there's less emphasis on the RTS side and instead they've put more into the RPG side, haven't played enough to see if it's more balanced like this or not, but it's been fun so far, and thanks to the objectives other then killing people (like destorying buildings), i can join 300 ping servers and still have a good time :)If you do decide to purchase though, please PM me so I can refer you! I really wanna see what you get for that lol.

I really wanna see what you get for that lol.
text removed cause GS is being stupid
haha cool, hope I can get something nice! I also read you can get them by killing higher level NPC's on the maps, me thinks I gonna go out and do some farming as well :P
This game only allows 5 hours of demo play before you are asked for $30 to continue playing, but the graphics look amazing, way better than WoW!
yah lol, but it's a completely different style of play to WoW, same sorta um, time period i guess? Anyway don't worry too much about the 5 hour demo time limit, you have unlimited LAN play, and the tutorial doesn't count toward your time either, so play that first so you don't waste your time online trying to work out how the game works. Also practice mode doesn't count toward your time either. So yah, train up in single, then join multi, after 5 hours you should know if it's worth while or not :)
I guess I'll try it.
I tried the demo and will purchase a subscription today when I get back from work. I can't wait to go back and play this game, it's awesome.
I was very impressed with the first one. I played it quite a bit. Glad to see they made a sequel, I'll definitely be buying it :)
