CoD4 worth getting?

I need a new FPS to play and I see that CoD4 is quite popular. Two questions. The first is are there mounted guns like there where in CoD United offensive. When I say mounted I mean guns you carry but can only shoot once you have set them up. Second question is what is the player damage like. I am use to games like GRAW 2 where you can only be shot once. I really dont want to play a game where you can get the drop on someone shoot them 3 times in the back and they turn around and blow you away with a shotgun. So whats the damage like?CoD4 worth getting?
i hear its a really good FPS but if you were playing a COD game before getting COD4 i think it will get old to you fast. also what are you looking in to doing SP, MP or both?CoD4 worth getting?
MP only basically, dont really care about SP
CoD4 has a lot of people for MP but also you may want to look in to UT3 or TF2 ''also in the orange box'' I have TF2 and LOVE it. fun game very laid back and has a lot of MP going on ''also on the sorce engine always a +1''
You can't delploy MGs, and yes, basically hitting someone once in the back with anything like a shotgun once is going to leave him dead.
COD4 has a few guns that you can man that are stationary, but none that I know of that you can take with you and set up. Do they even still use that type of gun much in offensive military missions? As for damage, it depends. There is hardcore mode where one shot basically kills, among other things. Plus there are perks you can get by levelling up that give you more armor, more attack damage, etc. So you can build your own preferences. It's a fantastic shooter. Get it.Brent
COD4 is definitely worth getting, it has a terrific single player and a fast and fun online multiplayer. An all round almost perfect game really.
The singleplayer campaign was short for many people's taste, but I found it to be one of the highest quality SP games I have played in years. Very cool game, if you like SP then the MP will be icing on the cake, and vice versa.
You will like CoD 4 if you liked CoD 2(SP anyway)
You can't deploy your own MGs but there are some dotted around the various maps and you can wield your own MGs, such as the SAW and the M60.MP is very good, it has all the usual modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Domination etc etc. The MP part of the game has a level up system so you start with limited weapons and perks.
